Job Summary
Commission AC and DC drive systems and control software to meet design performance criteria while troubleshooting complex control systems and performing tune-ups of closed loop regulators. Design, configure, and test system hardware and software to satisfy contractual requirements, then gather pertinent information to assess project needs. Lead client witness system acceptance tests, provide accurate commissioning status reports, and recommend improvements to commissioning procedures or business unit engineering teams. Train client personnel on system maintenance and operation to ensure optimum performance and minimum downtime. Maintain current safety qualifications and adhere to both Company and client safety requirements while collaborating with peers and internal contacts.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in electrical engineering, mechanical engineering with control automation coursework, mechatronics, computer engineering or related field or equivalent via education and/or work experience
- Classes, labs, and projects with concentration in some combination of electrical power systems, control system theory, supervisory software development, data base design/management, software engineering, robotics, or mechatronics
- Personal computer hardware and software skill proficiency
- Co-op, internship or other work experience
- Demonstrated problem solving skills
- Demonstrated successful working relationships with others, specifically clients, suppliers, and other internal and external contacts if previous employment experience
- Demonstrated successful working relationships with clients, suppliers, and other internal and external contacts
- Demonstrated successful and positive personal leadership, interpersonal, organizational, administrative, and communication skills
- Demonstrated continuous improvement in areas of responsibility
- Proficiency in MS Office
- Availability to travel, domestically and internationally, up to 75%, sometimes with limited notice
Desired Qualifications
- MSEE, or MSME with control automation coursework
- Research project or thesis in the areas of electrical power systems, control system theory, software engineering, robotics, mechatronics, or AC/DC motor drives
- Work experience as research assistant, intern, or co-op in the above areas
