Job Summary
Prepare estimates for various projects using hard-bid, design-build, and conceptual estimating methods. Read contract documents, perform quantity take-offs, and organize pricing information. Solicit bids from subcontractors and suppliers, then communicate with them to clarify pricing details. Prepare estimate formats for general conditions, bidding, and bid analysis, including outline schedules for proposed projects. Champion "The Layton Way" by delivering predictable outcomes while ensuring "Constructing with Integrity" through honesty, unity, safety, and quality. Assist other estimators and managers with all types of estimating tasks and special projects.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in civil engineering or construction management related field, or equivalent education and experience
Desired Qualifications
- Preferred working knowledge of Destini Estimator software, BlueBeam, Assemble, and other latest software and technology
- Preferred working knowledge of On Screen Take-off
- Working knowledge of Microsoft Suite (Work, Excel, PowerPoint)
- Ability to work under pressure and to meet tight deadlines
- Ability to operate office equipment, such as computer, printer, phone, copier, fax, etc
- Effective written and verbal communication skills
- Appropriate knowledge of construction practices and methods
- Working knowledge of Revit and Primavera systems preferred
