Job Summary
Associate Engineer under the supervision of Project Managers to advise and guide contractors, building owners, engineers, and architects on fire prevention concepts and practices integrated into design and construction of facilities. Responsibilities include assisting engineers and project managers with design and calculations of fire protection systems (fire alarm, fire suppression, clean agent extinguishing, smoke control); performing site surveys; providing building and fire code and life safety analysis; preparing letters and reports for clients and authorities having jurisdiction; witnessing or performing acceptance testing for fire protection systems in accordance with NFPA standards; some travel may be required.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's Degree in Engineering, Engineering Technology, Architecture, or other construction related field
- Bachelor's or Master's in Fire Protection Engineering, preferred
- OR work experience, including internships, in engineering or construction related field
- OR passed the Fundamentals of Engineering (FE) exam
