Job Summary
Troubleshoot and resolve issues on packaging equipment controlled by Rockwell / Allen-Bradley, Siemens, and B&R controls, utilizing ladder logic reading and multimeters to diagnose electrical/automation failures. Coordinate technical support for engineering, regulatory, compliance, calibration, and validation issues while assisting during FDA and other regulatory agency inspections. Complete advanced maintenance activities, interpret P&ID plans, and optimize maintenance procedures to ensure full compliance with cGMPs, SOPs, and industry standards. Operate and monitor sophisticated plant support equipment in non-standard shifts, including weekends and holidays, to support production and system optimization.
Required Qualifications
- Automation Technician experience (2 years)
- Strong hands-on PLC troubleshooting skills
- Ladder logic reading
- HMI familiarity
- Packaging equipment experience
- Able to collaborate with mechanical techs
- Adept at diagnosing electrical/automation issues in a GMP manufacturing environment
- Strong communication skills
- Problem-solving skills
- Rockwell / Allen Bradley PLC troubleshooting experience
- Must be able to login and use the PLC program to do basic troubleshooting
- Must be able to use a multimeter
- Must be able to read electrical schematics
- Bachelor degree OR Associate degree and 4 years of experience OR High school diploma / GED and 6 years of experience
- Must be available for weekends and/or holidays as determined by the business
- Must be able to interpret and review utility, process system/equipment, plumbing, ductwork plans, architectural, and HVAC P&ID's

- Experience supporting regulatory agency inspections
- Experience providing technical support in response to the FDA and other regulatory agencies
- Experience supporting cGMP validation of equipment and processes
- Experience completing advanced maintenance activities or operating and monitoring sophisticated plant support equipment in accordance with CFRs, cGMPs, SOPs, job plans, and client policies
- Experience investigating complex issues or problems through the mentorship of experienced staff
- Experience assisting the team with maintaining an up-to-date working spare parts inventory system for equipment/systems
- Experience evaluating the current maintenance procedures and assisting in changes to optimize the maintenance program
