Job Summary
Plan, coordinate, and perform engineering assignments for the design, implementation, and support of wireless data telecommunications systems supporting electric operations. Provide field construction and maintenance support for digital microwave, mobile, and fixed wireless networks, paging systems, and SCADA assets. Assist with project design, data analysis, and troubleshooting of SCADA data communication events impacting remote operations. Configure and specify SCADA wireless telecom equipment interfaces to field RTU devices while complying with IEEE, IEC, and NERC standards. This hybrid role requires 20% travel across Massachusetts, Connecticut, and New Hampshire, including potential storm response assignments and emergency restoration activities. You will work closely with senior engineering staff and Field Communications personnel to develop foundational knowledge of distribution automation networks.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor of Science degree in Electrical Engineering, Telecommunications Engineering, or related discipline
- Zero (0) to three (3) years of experience in the design, implementation and support of wireless SCADA data telecommunications systems
- Must be available to work emergency storm assignment as required
- Must be available to travel between MA/CT/NH as necessary
- Travel throughout the service territory is required 20% of the time

Desired Qualifications
- Foundational understanding of general engineering principles
- Prior experience with SCADA systems
- DNP 3.0 protocol
- Utility telecommunications
- Willingness and ability to learn new technologies, tools, and engineering concepts related to wireless communications and electric utility operations
- Basic understanding of data, networking, or communications concepts gained through coursework
- Strong communication and presentation skills
- Internship, co‐op, academic project, or laboratory experience related to engineering, communications, networking, or power systems
- Understanding of electric utility systems
