Job Summary
Prepare technical specifications for electrical, electro-mechanical, and automation equipment while conducting power system studies to ensure system adequacy and compliance with global and local utility standards. Evaluate supplier proposals to determine the best technical and cost-effective solutions, and manage equipment costs by recommending reductions where feasible. Design industrial controller software, Human Machine Interfaces, and commission AC/DC drive systems and solar PV inverters to meet design performance criteria. Troubleshoot complex control systems, track design revisions, and prepare purchase specifications and ERP requisitions to achieve project schedules. Define solutions for client RFQs, identify new technologies to differentiate the Company from competitors, and provide regular commissioning and status reports to appropriate parties.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor of Science degree in mechanical engineering, electrical engineering, mechatronics engineering, computer engineering, software engineering, or related degree
- Classes, labs, and projects with concentration in some combination of electrical power systems, control system theory, supervisory software development, database design/management, software engineering, robotics, or mechatronics
- Personal computer hardware and software skill proficiency
- Demonstrated problem solving skills, in all employment and/or educational settings, in all employment and/or educational settings
- Demonstrated successful working relationships with clients, suppliers, and other internal and external contacts
- Demonstrated successful and positive personal leadership, interpersonal, organizational, administrative, and communication skills
- Demonstrated continuous improvement in areas of responsibility
- Proficiency in MS Word, Excel, Outlook
- Availability to travel domestically and internationally, sometimes with limited notice, and with duration dependent on job assignment
Desired Qualifications
- Research project or thesis in the areas of control system theory, software engineering, robotics, mechatronics, electrical power systems, or AC/DC motor drives
- Co-op, internship, or other work experience
- Work experience as research assistant, intern, or co-op in the above areas
