Job Summary
Review and edit text for print and digital publication, maintaining the GUN DOG style guide and verifying accuracy before release. Proofread articles at every production stage, check proofs against roadmaps, and write feature stories or columns as needed. Film, edit, and post videos to social platforms while serving as on-camera talent when required. Assist with digital content strategy, manage the editorial calendar, and optimize content for SEO and web traffic metrics. Collaborate with marketing teams to distribute content across email and social channels, ensuring legal compliance and brand consistency. Attend trade shows and industry events approximately three weeks annually.
Required Qualifications
- BS/BA degree in Journalism, English or Creative Writing
- Knowledge in AP Style and proofreader's marks
- Knowledge of HTML, affiliate marketing, and web publishing
- Able to be accurate under extremely tight deadlines
- Able to collaborate as an effective team member
- Able to communicate changes clearly
- Knowledge of and interest in the outdoors, outdoor sports and firearm-related subjects
- Must have a strong work ethic and a passion for searching out errors and correcting grammar
- Must have the ability to reprioritize tasks according to changing demands
- Ability to learn new programs, processes and systems quickly
- Experience using Mac computers, InDesign, Photoshop, Lightroom, a CMS (Content Management System such as WordPress, video editing software, Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Outlook
- Knowledge of social media platforms
Desired Qualifications
- Three (3) years of professional experience in magazine editorial procedures
