Associate Economist

Job Summary
Associate Economist to contribute to the Global Compact for Refugees (GCR) objectives by analyzing refugees and host community welfare. Responsibilities include data collection and analysis of socio-economic (poverty) indicators using econometric tools (R, Stata); consolidating raw datasets into final datasets; preparing research papers with tables and graphs; engaging with country operations, governments, researchers, and partners; identifying research opportunities and supporting proposal development; and ensuring high-quality data products for program design and policy advocacy. The role involves coordination within UNHCR’s Division of Resilience and Solutions (DRS) and PARK, and collaboration with World Bank and other development actors. Requires three or more years of relevant experience in economics or related fields and a Bachelor’s degree in Economics or related discipline. The position is based in Abidjan, Côte d'Ivoire (IN_PERSON).
Required Qualifications
- At least three (3) years of demonstrated experience in economics, analysing data and/or conducting research.
- Bachelor of Arts in Economics, or related field.
- Demonstrated expertise with statistical software (R, Stata).
- Experience leading data collection and data analysis.
- Familiarity with poverty modelling and socio-economic profiling.
- Ability to work independently with limited supervision and deliver high-quality products.
- Experience working with humanitarian-development nexus and private sector partnerships.
