Associate Director - Water Resources

Job Summary

Lead hydraulic assessment and design of stormwater and drainage infrastructure for major transport, Defence, and energy projects, providing technical leadership in pit and pipe drainage networks, open channel systems, and flood conveyance infrastructure. Oversee hydrologic and hydraulic modelling, interpret results, and integrate findings into design outcomes while reviewing and approving technical calculations, drawings, and specifications. Advise project teams and clients on flood risk, drainage strategy, and infrastructure resilience, supporting delivery from planning through to construction. Act as a senior technical reviewer and mentor to developing engineers, contributing to the growth of local drainage capability and client engagement in the Perth market.

Required Qualifications

  • 15+ years of relevant post-graduate experience
  • Demonstrated experience in the planning, hydraulic assessment and design of stormwater and drainage networks
  • Strong capability in stormwater network hydraulics, including the performance of both underground and surface drainage systems
  • Experience delivering major infrastructure projects within a consulting or multidisciplinary engineering environment
  • The ability to provide technical leadership, design review and mentoring across a team
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, including confidence in engaging with clients and key stakeholders
  • Sound commercial awareness and the ability to contribute to successful project delivery outcomes
  • Tertiary qualifications in Civil Engineering or a related discipline
  • CPEng / RPEQ or equivalent professional registration highly regarded

Desired Qualifications

  • Experience across major road corridors, rail, Defence, aviation, renewables or other major infrastructure sectors
  • Familiarity with relevant design standards, policies and guidance, including ARR 2019 and relevant state or authority drainage criteria
  • Proficiency with relevant software used in drainage and hydraulic design, such as 12d, Drains, TUFLOW, HEC-RAS, MUSIC, RORB or similar tools
  • Experience in technical governance, independent design review and project assurance
  • Existing client relationships and market presence within Western Australia
  • Experience supporting the growth of a technical team or discipline capability
