Job Summary
Associate Director, Vivarium Operations to lead North American in-house vivarium operations across Spring House, PA and La Jolla, CA. Responsible for animal husbandry and technical in vivo research support, ensuring ethical care, environmental standards, and compliance with animal welfare regulations (AAALAC; Guide). Drive operational excellence, capacity planning, workforce development, and harmonization across sites; partner with veterinary and scientific leadership to deliver reliable study execution. Build a culture of inclusion and accountability, oversee KPIs and data reporting, and ensure safe, compliant operations with EHSS integration. Requires multi-site leadership, ability to translate scientific/portfolio demand into operational plans, and up to 10% domestic/international travel.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in life sciences (e.g., Animal Science, Biology, Veterinary Technology, Biomedical Sciences)
- 8+ years of progressive vivarium operations, animal care, and/or in vivo research support in academic, biotech, or pharmaceutical R&D
- Demonstrated people leadership experience with direct and indirect management of technical/husbandry staff
- Fluency in English (spoken and written)
