Job Summary
Manage all aspects of HNW underwriting operations, including medical, financial, and compliance assessments, while selecting and classifying risks according to company standards. Maintain underwriting consistency, make competitive offers without compromising policies, and coordinate processes to expedite turnaround time and meet NBUW targets. Contribute to junior underwriter training, adapt to changing underwriting philosophies, and collaborate with field and head office colleagues to enhance service levels. Support product development and process improvements while maintaining effective relationships with internal and external partners, including reinsurers. Requires 7+ years of underwriting experience, relevant designations, and proficiency in Cantonese and English.
Required Qualifications
- Degree or equivalent qualifications
- Minimum 7 years of underwriting experience
- Expert knowledge and understanding of medical, non-medical and financial underwriting principles and practices
- Expert knowledge of company's insurance product portfolio and market practices
- Expert knowledge of reinsurance treaties, agreements and available capacity
- Exceptional priority management with ability to work effectively under deadlines and manage multiple tasks
- Strong organizational, analytical, problem-solving skills
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Customer service orientation
- Proficiency in Cantonese, written and spoken English
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office (including Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
Desired Qualifications
- Applicable underwriting and insurance designations
- Mandarin language ability
- High level of ownership and accountability
- Ability to adapt to changing underwriting philosophy and apply new approaches
- Strong independent problem solving ability including research and presentation of potential solutions
- Ability to develop and maintain effective working relationships with all field personnel and reinsurers
