Job Summary
Conduct in-depth due diligence and lead state-of-the-field analysis for science ecosystem projects, including landscape reviews of research efforts, funding trends, and regulatory policy across health, finance, and societal sectors. Develop funding strategies and design strategic investment approaches that align with scientific and philanthropic goals, producing executive-level written materials and presentations to communicate complex insights to diverse stakeholders. Create tailored strategic plans and operational implementation guides for philanthropists and nonprofits, while coordinating advisory boards and expert panels for new initiatives. Represent the Milken Institute at industry events to build relationships and synthesize key investment areas for partners. This role supports the SPARC portfolio's science ecosystem programmatic area, focusing on computational biology, health equity, and workforce development within the biomedical research philanthropy space.
Required Qualifications
- Master's or PhD in a field of biomedical or health sciences
- 5+ years of relevant professional experience
- Knowledge of and curiosity across multiple levels of the biomedical ecosystem
- Experience in navigating the research-to-care landscape for broad, cross-disciplinary science/health topics
- Demonstrated ability to translate complex science and systems-level insights for different audiences
- Experience with project or program management
- High intellectual capacity that can be and has been applied to learning new areas of science, technology, and related fields
- Eligible to work in the United States
- Being authorized to work in the U.S.
