Job Summary
Lead a team of Sales Engineers responsible for designing and delivering advanced solutions to move the sales process forward and win business. Typically pre-sales-oriented, providing technical expertise and engaging customers and stakeholders across the sales cycle. Responsible for training and motivating the team to develop Verizon-differentiated, complex solutions (including network, security, strategic communications and professional services) based on customers’ business requirements; identify opportunities for improved technical support to the sales team; manage resources to maximize sales results; build senior-level relationships; participate in executive briefings and customer presentations; ensure training curricula are followed; conduct regular one-on-one sessions; address performance and PDP/PIP as per HR guidelines; share best practices across the SA community; collaborate with peer organizations for product/technology positioning and improvements; write proposals and support contracting ensuring technical, legal and compliance needs are met; train team members in customer applications of technologies; lead initiatives and track success metrics; contribute to hiring/firing decisions and performance management; articulate customer requirements and business outcomes to tech teams; ensure feasibility of proposed solutions with delivery and product teams; act as a bridge between sales and delivery to promote value proposition; the role is based in a field/mobile setting with periodic in-person training and meetings; salary ranges vary by location (see location-specific figures) and compensation may include commission.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree or four or more years of work experience
- Eight or more years of relevant experience
- Six or more years in IT/telecommunications sales or related leadership roles
- Six or more years of customer-facing leadership experience with end-to-end delivery
- Five or more years of architecture experience in IT/telecom products/services
- Five or more years delivering customer presentations and creating customer-facing materials (RFP responses, proposals, designs)
- Knowledge of TOGAF and/or ITIL standards for architecture/delivery
- Financial analysis experience (P&L, ROI, cost analysis, business case development)
- One or more industry certifications (e.g., Cisco CCNA/CCNP, CCDA/CCDP, CCVP) desired
- Willingness to travel to customer/field locations as required
