Job Summary
Associate Director, Payroll - Total Rewards leads and modernizes U.S. payroll operations for ~1,800 employees, overseeing end-to-end payroll administration, governance, tax withholdings, and cross-functional collaboration with HRIS, Finance, and external vendors; drives automation, AI-enabled anomaly detection, dashboard reporting, and system integrations (Workday and ADP Workforce Now) to improve accuracy, controls, scalability, and employee experience; mentors junior payroll staff and supports global payroll initiatives while ensuring regulatory compliance and audit readiness.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in accounting, Finance, Human Resources, or related field, or equivalent practical experience
- 6–10 years of progressive multi-state U.S. payroll experience, including ownership of full-cycle payroll operations
- Experience with Workday Payroll and ADP Workforce Now
- Strong knowledge of federal, state, and local tax regulations, wage and hour laws, and payroll compliance requirements
- Experience designing or enhancing payroll controls, reconciliations, and audit frameworks
- Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel, including large data set analysis and reconciliation
- Experience leading payroll system enhancements, implementations, or process redesign initiatives
- CPP designation
- Experience in financial services, asset management, or similarly regulated industries
- Experience leveraging automation tools, RPA, AI-driven validation controls, or data analytics platforms
