Job Summary
Associate Director, Patient Advocacy & Operations role focusing on cultivating and supporting strategic partnerships with patient advocacy organizations and managing day-to-day patient advocacy operations. Based in Waltham, MA with on-site responsibilities and approximately 20% travel. Lead planning and management of Patient Community Advisory Panels/Boards; engage patient advocacy leaders, caregivers, and organizations to inform programs; support clinical trial awareness and recruitment via patient engagement initiatives; collaborate cross-functionally with Medical Affairs, Marketing, Market Access/Patient Services, and Corporate Affairs to integrate patient perspectives into R&D and commercialization; represent Dyne at conferences and advisory boards; oversee Patient Advocacy Grants, Sponsorships & Donations, including budgeting, contracting, and payment workflows; manage patient engagement contracting and ensure compliance through Medical Legal Review; plan enterprise-wide events and advocacy activities; bilingual Spanish is a plus. Requires Bachelor’s degree and 8+ years of related experience, 6+ years in patient advocacy in biotech/pharma, strong partnerships with advocacy organizations, rare disease expertise, PFDD knowledge, excellent communication and project management skills, and ability to travel up to 20%.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field
- 8+ years in related experience (social work, genetic counseling, nursing, public health preferred)
- 6+ years in patient advocacy in biotech/pharma
- experience partnering with patient advocacy organizations
- understanding of rare diseases and PFDD
- strong communication and cross-functional collaboration
- experience managing budgets, teams, partnerships in regulated environments
- experience with clinical trial awareness and recruitment
- knowledge of drug development process and biopharma landscape
- ability to manage multiple projects and navigate ambiguity
- experience with sponsorship contracting processes
