Job Summary
Associate Director of Philanthropy responsible for qualifying, cultivating, soliciting, and stewarding a portfolio of 75-125 qualified donors (capacity to give $100k+), with an annual fundraising goal of $750k+; conduct 75-125 donor visits and 225-375 donor moves annually; make phone calls to qualify/disqualify prospects; develop donor strategies and funding proposals in partnership with the donor communications specialist; use the Conservancy’s donor database and collaborate with a cross-functional team to support major and principal gifts and planned giving; engage in donor communications and prospect qualification, with travel across Minnesota and neighboring states for donor visits; role involves flexible hours and some overtime; the organization emphasizes a mission-driven, collaborative fundraising culture.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree and 5 years related fundraising experience
- Experience building and maintaining long-term relationships with fundraising constituents
- Experience in asking for and closing gifts of $25,000 or more
- Experience in managing and tracking multiple prospects and donors
- Experience working with cross-functional teams
- Knowledge of CRM software (Blackbaud, Raiser's Edge, etc.)
- Understanding of project budgets and donor proposals
- Ability to educate and inform donors about giving vehicles
- Knowledge of charitable gift planning and capital campaigns
- Multilingual or cross-cultural experience appreciated
