Job Summary

Associate Director of Foundation Relations (ADOFR) at UNH Foundation leads frontline fundraising efforts, cultivating and stewarding foundation donors and prospects, coordinating with faculty and leadership to align programs with funder priorities, and developing engagement plans. Responsibilities include identifying prospects, submitting proposals and letters of intent, cultivating relationships, closing gifts/grants typically ranging from $25,000 to $250,000, researching new funders, and communicating UNH priorities. The role combines strategy development and implementation to monitor funding opportunities, disseminate information on RFPs, and participate in institution-wide fundraising conversations. Requires a bachelor’s degree with 3-5 years of fundraising or related experience, strong verbal/written communication, organizational and analytical skills, collaboration, and willingness to travel; hybrid schedule near Durham, NH in-person requirements with remote/onsite balance, and alignment with UNH’s diversity and inclusion goals.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree and 3-5 years of fundraising experience or equivalent (sales, business development, account/relationship management, marketing and/or public relations)
  • Experience in a fundraising setting and proven success in goal achievement, planning, proposal development, and related work
  • Orientation as a team player with collaborative instincts and a metrics-driven, entrepreneurial mindset
  • Willingness to develop broad knowledge of campus programs and fundraising mechanisms
  • Exemplary interpersonal and communication skills, organizational and analytical skills, and project management skills
  • Demonstrated commitment to collaboration and ability to work with a diverse team and donor/prospect constituency
  • Openness to occasional travel for foundation visits
  • Proficiency in database technologies and Microsoft Office
  • Preferred Qualifications: Master’s Degree; fundraising experience in higher education or campaign environment
  • Knowledge of philanthropy policies, practices, and systems
  • Passion for higher education and understanding of complex institutions
  • Experience with portfolio and/or volunteer management
