Job Summary
Process and award financial aid in compliance with federal, state, and institutional regulations while counseling enrolled and new students on awards, processes, debt management, and financial wellness. Analyze data, make independent judgments, and interpret complex federal financial aid regulations using the AAMC and Mercer Student Information System. Build working relationships with students, peers, and administration to discern extenuating circumstances affecting eligibility. Prepare reports and visual aids using Microsoft Excel, Word, and PowerPoint. Work independently with attention to numbers, details, and deadlines.
Required Qualifications
- A bachelor's degree
- Two years of related experience
- Regulatory or compliance experience
- Accounting/finance experience
- Customer service experience
- Excellent interpersonal and communication (written and verbal) skills
- Ability to accurately enter and analyze data in the AAMC and Mercer Student Information System
- Ability to work with numbers, details, and deadlines
- Ability to interpret and comprehend complex federal financial aid regulations
- Solid understanding of academic processes, as well as courses and terms relevant to the medical school
- Ability to work with confidential information in a professional manner
- Ability to work independently and perform tasks in a timely manner
- Working knowledge of Microsoft Excel, Word, and PowerPoint
- Customer service and presentation skills
- Ability to discern extenuating circumstances that may affect financial aid eligibility
