Job Summary
Lead the Academic Advising unit by supervising staff, managing daily operations, and implementing data-informed retention strategies to support student completion. Conduct developmental advising sessions to help students clarify academic and career goals, coordinate registration initiatives, and manage at-risk student interventions using early alerts and institutional metrics. Collaborate with Academic Affairs and Enrollment Services to drive strategic vision, assess advising outcomes, and ensure compliance with FERPA and professional standards. Support student success through proactive outreach, case management, and the development of individualized Academic Completion Plans.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in education, psychology, counseling, social work, higher education, or related field
- Minimum of three (3) years of progressive experience in academic advising, student success, enrollment management, retention initiatives, admissions, career counseling, or related higher education field
- Experience working with diverse student populations
- Commitment to inclusive communication and equitable student support
- Excellent communication, organizational, problem-solving, critical thinking, and time management skills
- Working knowledge of student information systems, advising technologies, databases, spreadsheets, word processing, email platforms, and student success technologies
- Strong administrative, analytical, organizational, and customer service skills
Desired Qualifications
- Master's degree in higher education, college student personnel, counseling, leadership, student affairs administration, or related discipline
- Previous supervisory, team leadership, or project management experience
- Demonstrated experience supporting student retention, persistence, completion, registration, or enrollment initiatives
