Job Summary

Lead engagement and solicitation strategies for leadership giving prospects ($10,000–$99,999) by managing a portfolio of 150–200 donors through monthly face-to-face and virtual visits. Personally solicit assigned prospects to meet annual dollar and activity metrics, develop an annual fundraising plan, and produce timely correspondence including proposals and thank you notes. Track all activities in the CLARA CRM database and report results regularly to the Senior Executive Director. Engage the Dean to introduce key prospects at events and meetings, while collaborating with Prospect Management and Analytics to maintain an active donor pipeline. Support Advisory Board development through meeting attendance and annual board member solicitations. This role requires a valid driver's license for frequent travel and occasional weekend work.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree
  • Valid driver's license
  • Personal transportation vehicle available for frequent travel to business meetings
  • 4 to 6 years of related professional experience
  • 3 to 5 years of direct development, fundraising and/or transferable professional skills that includes sales and/or developing relationships with volunteers and/or high net worth clients or customers
  • Higher education experience
  • Ability to work on the road
  • Ability to work at odd hours and on weekends
  • Knowledge of Santa Clara University and its mission
  • Ability to use current desktop office and database technologies efficiently and effectively

Desired Qualifications

  • Master's degree
  • Direct knowledge of successful fundraising best practices with an emphasis on leadership giving and personal solicitations
  • General understanding of higher education advancement
  • Demonstrated ability to work both independently and as part of a team
  • Ability to work collaboratively with leadership and other Development staff
  • A commitment to higher education and ability to articulate a compelling case for support
  • Higher education experience
  • Experience handling highly confidential information
  • Ability to manage time and workload to multitask and achieve goals in a deadline driven environment
