Associate Director - Fire Engineering

Job Summary
Associate Director (Fire Engineer) based in a UK office (St Albans) with a hybrid work model. You will lead and manage the fire engineering team, oversee and deliver large Defence projects, ensure regulatory compliance and client expectations, drive professional development, support staff through PDPs and mentoring, contribute to project budgets and schedules, maintain high-quality deliverables, and cultivate technical client relationships while growing the practice within a multidisciplinary design consultancy.
Required Qualifications
- Extensive experience in a large, multi-disciplinary environment
- Comprehensive knowledge of UK standards and guidance documents (ADB, BS 9991/9999/9992, HTM 05-02, BB100)
- Comprehensive knowledge of Defence standards (JSP 80, DIFS)
- Proficiency with fire engineering tools (FDS, SFE, evacuation modelling)
- Membership in professional institutions (MIFireE, NFPA CFPE)
- BEng/MEng or MSc in fire science/engineering or similar
- Good level of security clearance or ability to obtain
- Chartered Engineer (CEng) with IFE (preferred)
- PhD in fire-related discipline (preferred)
- International experience with standards (IBC, SFPE, NFPA)
- UK national (preferred)
- Security clearance (preferred)
- Extensive knowledge of tools including FDS and evacuation modelling
