Associate Director, Financial Reporting

Job Summary
Prepare, review, and support monthly, quarterly, and year-end close deliverables for the International HNW business unit, including journal entries, reconciliations, roll forwards, and balance sheet substantiation. Execute close controls, investigate variances, and coordinate resolution of issues with relevant teams while maintaining supporting documentation. Support operational reporting deliverables, including income statement testing, commission-to-premium analysis, and actuarial actual validation, alongside intercompany settlement processes. Prepare schedules, control evidence, and responses to audit queries to meet internal and external audit and SOX control requirements. Manage dependencies during quarter-end close by collaborating with actuarial and finance stakeholders.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, or a related field
- CPA qualification
- Minimum of 8+ years relevant finance experience
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
Desired Qualifications
- Strong knowledge of accounting including IFRS17, financial reporting, reconciliations, journal entries and internal controls
- Practical insurance finance experience
- Preferably with life insurance products
- Preferably with reinsurance
- Preferably with regulatory reporting
- Preferably with SOX controls
- Strong attention to detail and ability to manage recurring deliverables under tight reporting timelines
- Strong analytical, problem-solving and organizational skills
- Ability to investigate variances, identify root causes and coordinate issue resolution
- Good stakeholder management skills
- Ability to collaborate across Finance, Actuarial, Operations, Product and Data teams
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office
- Proficiency in relevant finance systems
- Enthusiastic about adopting new technologies to improve efficiency and effectiveness
- Prior experience in close production
- Prior experience in reporting controls
- Prior experience in audit support
- Prior experience in regulatory reporting
- Prior experience in process transition
