Job Summary
Associate Director, Executive Communications will develop and drive an executive communications plan to position HRW’s leadership as authoritative voices in global human rights and governance debates. The role involves shaping the executive voice through speeches, op-eds, social media plans, and high-impact public interventions; identifying and securing platforms across top-tier media and global forums; coordinating with HRW’s media team to align priorities; preparing leaders for interviews and public appearances; maintaining high editorial standards across content; monitoring the evolving media landscape to advise where leaders should engage; and strengthening media readiness through training and continuous improvement. The role reports to the Global Communications Director and will work from NY or DC offices at least three days per week.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent work experience in communications, media, journalism, marketing, human rights, or related field
- Minimum of seven years of relevant work experience driving thought leadership, public relations for senior executives, or as a political communications advisor, preferably within a global, large-scale, diverse and dynamic mission-driven organization operating internationally
