Job Summary
Associate Director, Epidemiology is a strategic scientific leader responsible for developing, coordinating, and completing epidemiology deliverables withinAlexion’s registries and post-approval studies, including overseeing data incorporation and analyses from rare-disease registries and post-approval studies, either personally or through management of other epidemiologists or vendors. Responsibilities include proposing and conducting analyses for observational studies, registries, or external databases, summarizing results in reports and presentations, providing epidemiology input to Clinical Development, Patient Safety, Regulatory Affairs, Medical Affairs, and Commercial teams, leading sub-teams, contributing to study protocols and regulatory documents, interacting with authors and reviewers on manuscripts and conference materials, representing the department with external collaborators and regulatory authorities, and staying current with regulatory requirements and payer trends. The role requires collaboration across functions, delivering high-quality work within budget and timelines, and may require up to 10% travel. The position is a 12-month contract and involves in-person work at least part of the week (hybrid arrangement).
Required Qualifications
- PhD / DSc / DrPH in Epidemiology with 3 years of industry experience, OR MPH / MSc in Epidemiology with 6 years of industry experience
- Experience in developing and coordinating epidemiology deliverables within registries and post-approval studies
- Ability to oversee statistical analyses and guide statisticians/programmers
- Strong written and oral communication skills for manuscripts, abstracts, presentations, and regulatory documents
- Leadership experience across cross-functional teams and external collaborators
- Familiarity with drug development processes and regulatory expectations
- Travel up to 10%
