Associate Director - Ecology

Job Summary
Lead the planning and delivery of ecological inputs for internal and external clients, producing and technically reviewing assessments including Preliminary Ecological Appraisals, Protected Species Baseline Reports, Ecological Impact Assessments, Habitats Regulations Assessments, and Biodiversity Net Gain Calculations. Provide technical leadership to support pragmatic solutions, lead consultation with planning authorities and the public, and embed innovation through research and bid production. Mentor junior staff and peers while managing projects across energy, water, renewables, defence, and transport sectors. This Associate Director role supports the AECOM Nature team on large infrastructure projects and national initiatives, fostering technical capability within a global infrastructure consulting firm.
Required Qualifications
- Demonstratable experience in planning and delivery of ecological services on projects in the UK or Ireland
- Well-developed understanding of relevant wildlife conservation
- Membership of an appropriate professional institution and evidence of working towards Chartership (such as CIEEM or related.)
- Excellent field skills in at least one specialist area including any protected species licences
- A proactive approach to Health and Safety
- Mentoring and supporting ecology team members
- All newly hired employees are required to attend an in-person Day 1 onboarding at an AECOM office location as a condition of employment
