Associate Director - Ecology

Job Summary
Lead the planning and delivery of ecological inputs for internal and external clients, producing and technically reviewing assessments including Preliminary Ecological Appraisals, Protected Species Baseline Reports, Ecological Impact Assessments, Habitats Regulations Assessments, and Biodiversity Net Gain Calculations. Provide technical leadership to support pragmatic solutions while leading consultation with clients, planning authorities, and the public. Drive the production of bids and tenders for ecological services, using innovative survey techniques for species and habitats data capture and reporting. Mentor junior staff and peers within a framework that encourages the embedding of innovation and research.
Required Qualifications
- Demonstratable experience in planning and delivery of ecological services on projects in the UK or Ireland
- Well-developed understanding of relevant wildlife conservation
- Membership of an appropriate professional institution and evidence of working towards Chartership (such as CIEEM or related.)
- Excellent field skills in at least one specialist area including any protected species licences
- A proactive approach to Health and Safety
- Mentoring and supporting ecology team members
- All newly hired employees are required to attend an in-person Day 1 onboarding at an AECOM office location as a condition of employment
