Job Summary
Medicinal Chemistry program leadership role leading the discovery of precision medicines. Design small molecules using structure-based design and property-based strategies, optimize potency, selectivity, ADMET, and efficacy; lead a chemistry program from target validation through development candidate selection; collaborate with biology and cross-functional partners to plan go/no-go experiments and align compound design with project goals; manage external synthesis teams, data analysis, and sample handling; drive adoption of new strategies and technologies while mentoring junior scientists and presenting findings at team and departmental meetings.
Required Qualifications
- PhD in Chemistry or related discipline
- minimum of 7+ years of industrial medicinal chemistry experience beyond doctoral training or BS and 15+ years experience
- deep experience with medicinal chemistry
- structure-based drug design (SBDD) and ADME optimization
- covalent chemistry approaches
- track record of leading medicinal chemistry programs
- managing external synthesis teams
- excellent interpersonal and teamwork skills
- ability to design and test hypotheses and accelerate decision-making
- mentorship of junior scientists
- strong organizational skills and ability to handle complex problems
- working knowledge of cross-functional disciplines such as ADMET optimization and PK/PD relationships
- solid working knowledge of synthetic organic chemistry
