Job Summary
As the Associate Director of Business & Legal Affairs for ADA at Warner Music Group, you will play a crucial role in structuring, negotiating, and drafting complex industry agreements, including distribution agreements and label service deals. Your expertise will provide day-to-day legal and business counseling to various teams, ensuring compliance with contractual obligations. Responsibilities also include resolving claims and disputes related to copyright and breach of contract. The role requires a J.D. degree, a good standing in the New York State Bar, and significant experience as a transactional attorney, along with a deep passion for the music industry.
Required Qualifications
- J.D. degree from an ABA-accredited law school
- Member in good standing of the New York State Bar
- 3-5 years of post-bar experience as a practicing transactional attorney
- Extremely high attention to detail and a commitment to precision in drafting and negotiation
- Ability to take complete ownership of deals and drive them to completion independently
- Proactive problem-solver able to manage multiple high-priority assignments simultaneously under tight deadlines
- Passion for music, innovation, and the independent label community
Desired Qualifications
- Experience working in-house at a music distributor or record label
- In-depth knowledge of copyright, trademark, and rights of publicity (NIL) as they pertain to the recorded music industry
- A strong understanding of the evolving digital landscape and its impact on music distribution and monetization
