Job Summary
Associate Director, Analytical Development and Vendor Management delivers hands-on analytical assay development (~30-40% lab work) while leading outsourced CRO-based assay development, defining analytical approaches, and managing scopes of work, timelines, and budgets. Serves as the scientific interface with CROs, ensures alignment between internally developed and externally executed assays, reviews and approves analytical data, and coordinates with Research, Process Development, Translational Sciences, and early CMC stakeholders to support IND-enabling activities. The role combines independent laboratory work with leadership in external collaboration to drive translational decision-making and program advancement, emphasizing assay robustness, data quality, and cross-functional communication.
Required Qualifications
- PhD with 5+ years in analytical development within biotech/pharma (cell and gene therapy preferred)
- 4+ years of hands-on analytical development experience in biotech/pharma
- Proven hands-on experience in molecular/biochemical methods (ddPCR, MSD, ELISA, Flow, NGS)
- Experience designing, qualifying, and validating analytical assays
- Experience working in a GCP compliant environment
- Proven experience managing outsourced analytical work at CROs and integrating with internal efforts
- Strong communication skills and ability to lead across matrixed teams
