Job Summary
Proactively manage and smooth the functioning of Novartis alliances in your portfolio, primarily with Chinese partners, while ensuring external and internal alignment. Support local team members on partner-facing activities and oversee contract, governance, and relationships throughout the live cycle from pre-signature to termination. Serve as the internal champion for deal terms and obligations, driving required reportings and documentation to ensure full compliance with Corporate & Business Development processes. Identify, mediate, and resolve collaboration issues before they escalate, while deriving learnings to develop alliance skills within the team. This role supports the project team in delivering strategic goals for therapeutic areas and corporate strategy, ensuring Novartis remains the preferred partner for alliances in China and beyond.
Required Qualifications
- Master Degree (e.g. MSc) / University Diploma or equivalent MBA
- native Chinese speaker
- fluent English
- 6+ years industry experience (preference: big pharma and biotech) working in or with Chinese companies
- Prior experience in working on pharma collaborations with a good understanding of the drug development process
- Demonstrated ability to work cross-functionally, manage crises and align interests of multiple stakeholders
- ability to structure own work and manage complexity
- strong written and oral communication skills
- Proven experience and ability to work in matrix organizations, and to build strong connections and business relationships through virtual interactions
- High flexibility to work across multiple time zones (incl. with CH and US-based teams)
- Work location: Novartis China (Shanghai)
- Flexibility to on-board during a 3-9 months period at Novartis in Basel or US, prior to initiating local work in Shanghai
