Associate Director Accounting, Clinical and R&D

Lead the accounting function for Clinical and R&D activities, driving accurate month-end close and reporting for clinical trials and R&D expenses while ensuring SOX compliance. Develop and maintain accrual methodologies using patient enrollment metrics, vendor data, and contract milestones; review contracts, work orders, and change orders to identify financial risks and out-of-scope activities. Partner with Clinical Operations and CROs to support data collection and month-end close; mentor and develop accounting staff for scalable growth. Present financial and qualitative summaries to senior leadership, drive process improvements in clinical trial accounting, and maintain SOX controls related to accrual processes. This role requires collaboration across Clinical Operations, CROs, and external vendors, with up to 5% travel and on-site presence in San Diego, CA.
