Associate Development Officer

Job Summary

Collaborate with development staff, financial partners, and consultants to advance affordable housing projects from concept through construction and lease-up. Prepare financial analyses, budgets, and support project financing while coordinating with diverse stakeholders to guide initiatives through key milestones. Manage multifamily development projects across Maine and New Hampshire, including site visits and presentations for public comments. Requires strong project management, financial underwriting, and analytical skills with at least one year of relevant experience. This full-time role offers a competitive salary range of $55,000 - $70,000 and includes comprehensive benefits such as health insurance, 401(k) matching, and tuition reimbursement.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree
  • Master's Degree in a relevant field
  • Excellent communication and analytical skills
  • Ability to prioritize and manage multiple deadlines and tasks concurrently
  • Commitment to collaborative project management and learning on the job
  • At least 1 year of financial underwriting, project management, real estate development, or other relevant experience
  • Knowledge of multifamily housing and the development process
  • Advanced knowledge of and direct experience with one or more components of multifamily housing development (design, finance, construction, asset/property management)
  • Ability to work under pressure and meet tight deadlines
  • Strong project management and financial underwriting skills
  • Well-organized
  • Creative and proactive problem-solver
  • Good communication skills, including public comment and presentations
  • Full-time (37.5 hours/week) position
  • Annual salary range of $55,000 - $70,000
  • Work at main office located at 307 Cumberland Avenue, Portland, Maine at least 3-4 days per week
  • Additional travel in Maine and New Hampshire
