Job Summary
The Associate Dean of Student Progress at BYU School of Medicine provides academic leadership for monitoring student success. Responsibilities include chairing the Student Progress Committee, overseeing student performance evaluation, and supporting students facing academic challenges, all while upholding BYU's mission.
Required Qualifications
- Terminal degree (PhD, EdD, MD, DO, or equivalent) in a relevant field such as education, biomedical science, or health professions completed by the start date.
- Experience working in academic administration, student support, or academic advising within a professional or graduate setting.
- Demonstrated understanding of academic remediation, student development, and standards of professionalism.
- Experience collaborating with faculty and clinical educators to assess student performance and synthesize evaluation data.
- Deep commitment to the mission and spiritual aims of BYU and The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.
- Proven ability to mentor and support students with charity, clarity, and accountability.
Desired Qualifications
- Experience in medical or health professions education.
- Familiarity with LCME accreditation standards related to student evaluation and progression.
- Experience in policy development, committee leadership, or institutional governance.
- Record of scholarly activity in academic support, remediation, or professionalism education.

- Preference is given to qualified candidates who are members in good standing of the affiliated church, The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.
