Job Summary
Associate Counsel to defend lawsuits filed in Pennsylvania courts and other first-party insurance defense matters. Responsibilities include researching laws and preparing legal briefs, opinions, and memoranda; rendering opinions on liability, damages, and value as requested by Claims; handling pleadings, motions, discovery, depositions/examinations, and defending by trial or dispositive hearing; travel as required. Requires a Juris Doctor degree, Pennsylvania Bar admission, and ability to travel; strong written and organizational skills; experience in litigation/insurance defense is preferred. Hybrid work arrangement based in Philadelphia or surrounding area.
Required Qualifications
- Juris Doctor (JD) degree REQUIRED
- Admission to the Pennsylvania Bar REQUIRED
- Licensed in good standing to practice law in Pennsylvania (including CLE requirements)
- Ability to travel as required (trial, hearings, depositions, meetings)
- Strong written communication and organizational skills
- Experience in litigation and insurance defense preferred (2-6+ years)
- Ability to learn and apply large amounts of technical/procedural information
- Professional and respectful in-person, telephone, and written communication
