Job Summary
Draft, negotiate, and review commercial agreements, with primary responsibility for vendor and inbound contracts. Build and improve contract templates, playbooks, and legal processes to support business scaling. Provide practical legal analysis, strategy, and guidance to internal clients while managing assigned legal projects to completion. Assist with legal research, strategic transactions, and escalations. This role reports directly to the Director and Managing Counsel (Commercial) within ezCater's lean commercial legal team. Candidates must have 3-5 years of experience in commercial contracts and a state bar membership.
Required Qualifications
- Minimum 3-5 years legal experience in a law firm or in-house
- Experience in commercial contracts
- Membership to at least one state bar
- Strong drafting skills (from forms and from scratch) with a solid understanding of legal terms and contract formulation principles, including confidentiality, indemnity, termination, representations and other common contract provisions
- Excellent ability to negotiate with third parties in both non-confrontational and potentially adversarial scenarios
- Ability to communicate the implications of legal requirements to internal clients
- A strong work ethic, high standards, impeccable integrity, and well-honed analytical skills
- Excellent judgment and ability to balance risk with business objectives, able to operate independently and know when to escalate issues to other in-house counsel
- Ability to multi-task in a fast-paced, dynamic environment; adaptable to new situations and challenges
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills with ability to write in a clear and concise manner and effectively communicate across all levels of the organization and with third parties
- Strong interpersonal skills and are a reliable self-starter with a positive, inclusive and team-oriented attitude
