Associate Consultant - Structural Engineer

Job Summary

Assist with field investigations, site visits, and condition assessments of existing structures across the United States, collecting measurements and preparing as-built drawings. Support structural analysis and design for repair, rehabilitation, and new construction projects while performing engineering calculations to resolve deficiencies. Prepare technical reports, calculations, drawings, specifications, and construction documents under the supervision of licensed engineers. Conduct structural inspections, review contractor submittals and RFIs, and maintain project documentation and schedules. Research applicable building codes and standards to ensure compliance. Work collaboratively with project managers, senior engineers, and architects to deliver quality projects, with approximately 40% field travel and occasional overtime.

Required Qualifications

  • Fundamental understanding of structural engineering principles and behavior of wood, steel, concrete, and masonry systems
  • Basic knowledge of commercial and residential building construction
  • Ability to perform engineering calculations and interpret technical information
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications
  • Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering, Structural Engineering, or related engineering field
  • 0–3 years of structural engineering experience
  • Valid driver's license and reliable transportation
  • Ability to obtain future professional engineering licensure
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
  • Ability to manage multiple assignments and meet project deadlines
  • Ability to work both independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team
  • Willingness to learn through mentorship, field experience, and technical training
  • Ability to interact professionally with clients, contractors, and colleagues
  • Overnight Travel: Up to 10%

  • Employee is frequently required to stand, sit, climb ladders, bend, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, talk, hear, and drive a motor vehicle to job sites
  • Employee may lift and/or move up to 50 pounds
  • Clear vision and depth perception
  • Engineer-in-Training (EIT) certification preferred or ability to obtain within 12 months of employment

Desired Qualifications

  • Experience with AutoCAD or similar drafting software
  • Familiarity with structural analysis software
  • Experience with AutoCAD, Revit and BIM experience
