Job Summary
Associate Consultant for built environment and infrastructure security design in Australia, supporting Control Risks’ Crisis and Security Consulting practice. Role involves contributing to security-focused projects across APAC with emphasis on the Australian market, assisting the design team with preparation and delivery of design documentation and project deliverables to industry standards and client requirements. Responsibilities include participating in weekly project stakeholder meetings, executing limited-scope security design consultancy tasks, collaborating with senior designers to prepare design stage documentation (technical specifications, power load calculations, tender evaluation reports), keeping abreast of advancements in security technology, coordinating with the senior design team to ensure timely task completion, and accompanying senior designers on onsite inspections, testing and commissioning activities. Required experience includes a minimum of two years in security or related discipline, proficiency with interpreting floor plans and CAD 2D design layouts, understanding design engineering principles and project design stages per RIBA, and knowledge of electronic security systems (video surveillance, access control, intruder detection, intercommunications, security fences/gates/barriers/locking systems/secure rooms). A degree in electronics/electrical engineering or communications is preferred, with strong written and verbal communication and familiarity with project management tools (Microsoft Project or Primavera).
Required Qualifications
- minimum of two (2) years’ professional experience in security or a closely related discipline
- proficiency in interpreting floor plans and schematics
- utilizing CAD 2D software to produce design layouts
- sound understanding of design engineering principles and practices
- knowledge of project design stages including Conceptual, Developed, and Technical Design (RIBA)
- experience with integrated electronic security systems (video surveillance, access control, intruder detection, intercommunications, security fences, gates, barriers, locking systems, secure rooms)
- a degree in electronics and electrical engineering or communications is preferred
- strong written and verbal communication skills
- proficiency with project management tools such as Microsoft Project or Primavera
