Job Summary
Lead weekly rehearsals for the Chorus of Sopranos and Altos and Chamber Choir, directing warmups, sectional work, and occasional full rehearsals from September through May. Provide artistic leadership at performances, select repertoire, and design community-building activities. Conduct auditions across the region, coordinate educational programs, and manage logistics including attendance tracking. Represent the Handel and Haydn Society at social events, donor meetings, and conferences while participating in faculty planning and professional development. Maintain high standards aligned with the organization's core values of equity and musical excellence.
Required Qualifications
- Degree in music education and/or choral conducting field
- At least three years of experience working with students in a choral setting
- Strong conducting, teaching, and rehearsal planning skills
- Knowledge of vocal pedagogy, diverse musical styles including Baroque and Classical repertoire, and performance practice
- Bilingual written and verbal proficiency
- Availability to work in Boston on Saturday mornings and early afternoons in September–May
