Associate CNC Lathe/ VTL Machinist

Job Summary

Conduct finish machining practices including turning, boring, drilling, and threading while maintaining close tolerances on components. Read and interpret drawings, work instructions, and G-Code to ensure compliance with specifications, and operate small lifts and pallet jacks. Proficiently use calibrated measuring devices such as micrometers and dial indicators to verify dimensions. Stand for significant portions of the shift in the shop environment, lifting objects up to 50 lbs. and complying with all safety directives. Full-time role at RMS Pearland Works with 40-hour minimum; additional evening or weekend hours may be required based on project needs.

Required Qualifications

  • 2 or more years of experience in a safety sensitive environment
  • Ethical Conduct
  • Exceptional problem-solving abilities and organizational skills
  • Ability to be resourceful and proactive in dealing with issues that may arise
  • Capable of reading drawing and proper use of calibrated measuring tools
  • Read drawings and use of micrometers
  • Basic machining knowledge and practices required
  • Manufacturing industry experience preferred
  • High School Diploma or equivalent from an accredited institution
  • Completion of a relevant technical or vocational program or equivalent experience
  • Ability and willingness to be in the shop environment a minimum of 8 hours per day, primarily standing for significant portions of the shift
  • Ability to operate small lifts, pallet jacks and other lifting equipment
  • Advanced oral and written communication
  • Advanced math skills to calculate tolerances and dimensions
  • Ability to read and understand Blueprints and G-Code
  • Familiar with basic machining practices involved in turning, milling, drilling, threading operations
  • Must be competent reading drawings and following instructions necessary to produce usable and saleable parts
  • Must be proficient with the use of, the care of, and the calibration of all types of measuring devices (i.e., micrometers (OD and ID), dial calipers, dial indicators, etc.)
  • Must possess and provide basic tools required for the execution of the position of machinist
  • Must be able to comply with all safety directives and programs established by the Company and or our customers
  • Ability and willingness to lift objects weighing up to 50 lbs., walk, climb, reach, kneel, crawl, and balance
  • Must be able to use hands for assembly and tool usage
  • Must not have allergies or issues related to handling metals including aluminum, copper, bronze, and steel
  • This position can be required to participate in the company random or customer specific drug and alcohol screening and background check
  • Able to understand, read, write, and speak English
  • Must possess a valid driver's license
  • Able to pass a pre-employment drug, alcohol screening and background check
  • Authorized to work in the United States

Desired Qualifications

  • The ideal candidate needs to be familiar with Fanuc Controls
  • Must have basic hand & measuring tools, indicators, etc
