Job Summary
Apply civil engineering principles to the design and construction of public works and infrastructure projects, including roads, dams, flood control channels, and sewer systems. Interpret laws and codes to ensure compliance, then plan, coordinate, and oversee engineering programs while monitoring progress and evaluating technical quality. Prepare comprehensive written reports and deliver oral presentations, conduct engineering research, and analyze contracts and technical specifications for major projects. Serve as resident engineer during construction by assigning staff, evaluating work, and recommending plan changes, while reviewing outside engineers' plans for code compliance and structural integrity. Determine sewer design requirements for new developments and assist in supervising survey-related engineering work, including boundary and section line surveys. Maintain a valid California State Certificate of Registration as a Civil Engineer and a Class C Driver License.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelors degree or higher in engineering from an accredited college or university
- Valid California State Certificate of Registration as a Civil Engineer
- Valid California Class C Driver License or ability to meet transportation requirements for job-related duties
- Light physical effort, including occasional lifting up to 10 pounds, bending, stooping, squatting, and considerable walking
