Job Summary
The ACMO oversees Medical Staff Office activities including credentialing, OPPE/FPPE, and provider professionalism; collaborates with Medical Staff leadership to maintain Medical Staff Bylaws, Rules, and Regulations; chairs/participates in committees and liaises between Nantucket Cottage Hospital and the Mass General Brigham enterprise. Leads quality and safety initiatives, ensures regulatory compliance, accreditation readiness, and supports recruitment, onboarding, and retention of medical staff; represents clinical leadership in senior leadership meetings and with the Board of Trustees; fosters physician engagement and a culture of professionalism and patient-centered care within a small community hospital setting.
Required Qualifications
- MD or DO degree required
- Board Certification in a recognized specialty required
- Active Massachusetts medical license required
- DEA registration required
- Minimum 5–7 years of leadership experience in a hospital or healthcare organization
- Experience in quality improvement, peer review, credentialing oversight, and regulatory readiness
- Prior leadership experience in a community hospital setting preferred
Additional Requirements
- Must be willing to reside on Nantucket Island full-time as an active member of the island community
