Associate Chemist - Toxicology

Job Summary
Review and certify LC/MS data from instruments utilizing Analyst and Ascent software, determining data acceptability and uploading results. Verify calibration, quality controls, and patient data up to result entry, while maintaining, calibrating, and cleaning instrumentation including GC, GC-MS, HPLC, and UPLC-MS/MS. Diagnose and repair equipment issues, troubleshoot significant changes in instrument function, and conduct qualitative and quantitative analyses on organic and inorganic samples. Perform routine and complex technical procedures per Standard Operating Procedures, evaluate raw and final data for accuracy, and provide guidance to technical staff on analysis and interpretation. Assist with training new employees and document preventive maintenance procedures. Work Thursday through Sunday from 1:00am to 11:30am in Burlington, NC.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in a Chemical or Biological science, Clinical Laboratory Science or Medical Technology
- 2 years or more of clinical laboratory testing experience
- OR an MLS degree
- Minimum Qualifications
Desired Qualifications
- 3 months or more of clinical laboratory testing experience
- ASCP or AMT certification
- Demonstrated success in clinical testing technical proficiency and scientific knowledge
- Advanced knowledge and understanding of specific laboratory and/or department functions
- Ability to exercise judgment to determine methods and procedures on new assignments
- Proficient with computers and familiarity with laboratory information systems
- High level of attention detail along with strong communication and organizational skills
- Ability to work independently and within a team environment
- Able to pass a standardized color blindness test
- Flexibility to work overtime or other shifts depending on business needs
