Job Summary
Associate Broadcast & IT Support role in a fast-paced, 24x7x365 field news environment. Responsibilities include operating satellite trucks and portable satellite, microwave and streaming gear to provide multi-path transmissions from outside broadcast locations; set-up, operation, and breakdown of equipment; on-site maintenance of CNN SNG trucks and on-board systems (cameras, switchers, routers, encoders, RF, and bonded cellular); providing 24x7x365 broadcast technical support for streaming, audio, and video equipment; coordinating installations with vendors/production teams; documenting quality standards and procedures; using AutoCAD for system documentation and ITSM for incident logging; ensuring inventory of parts and supplies; and performing field and in-house project work as needed. Requires travel (mostly domestic, some international), ability to lift 50+ lbs, CDL Class B license, and a 2- or 4-year technical degree (electronics or computer engineering preferred) with experience in television/multimedia production workflows, and basic server/networking knowledge.
Required Qualifications
- 2 or 4 year technical degree, preferably electronics or computer engineering (or equivalent education/experience/training)
- Typically one or more years of experience in television, multimedia content, IT client service or broadcast maintenance capacity
- Demonstrated familiarity with basic server, networking topology and operating systems (e.g., Windows, Unix, etc.)
- Ability to work all shifts associated with 24x7x365 production environments
- Capable of lifting 50 lbs. and climbing ladders for equipment and cable installation assignments
- Must obtain a CDL Class B License
- PREFERRED EDUCATION, TRAINING, LICENSING, OR CERTIFICATION: Specific certifications may be required to work on proprietary equipment/systems (e.g., Cisco, Harmonic)
