Job Summary
Draft, review, and file legal pleadings, motions, and discovery documents for active litigation files. Analyze case files to determine appropriate action, evaluate case merits, and assess risk exposure while providing strategic legal recommendations. Advocate for client interests at hearings, mediations, arbitrations, and trials, including case strategy development and oral arguments. Negotiate settlements with consumers and legal representatives to resolve disputes efficiently. Utilize internal proprietary software to update account status and process litigation inventory reports to ensure proper workflow. Maintain compliance with firm and client standard operating procedures and applicable laws. Communicate effectively with team members and outside parties, and prepare for client representation as required.
Required Qualifications
- Admitted to practice law and in good standing in Ohio
- Strong organizational and time management skills
- Proficient computer skills in Microsoft Office suite, including Word, Excel, and Outlook
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Highly motivated self-starter
- Eagerness to learn
- Ability to manage and prioritize a large caseload
- Be able to communicate in a common language with (or to) individuals or groups verbally and/or in writing
- Be able to operate a computer, phone, or equivalent device
- Be able to complete a minimum of a 40-hour flexible workweek schedule
- Be able to read and comprehend position-specific documents and correspondence
- Ability to travel to various courtrooms within the branch office footprint as required
Desired Qualifications
- Minimum of one year of litigation/trial experience
- Working knowledge of civil procedure
- Debt collection experience
- Prior experience in a high-volume environment
