Job Summary
Manage a caseload of litigated claims by preparing them for trial, including developing case-specific defense strategies. Attend depositions, hearings, and/or mediations while analyzing discovery, medical records, expert defense strategy, and motion practice. Research legal issues and investigate people, businesses, and worksites. Draft briefs, memos, and client updates. This role requires an actively licensed New York attorney with 3-6 years of defense litigation experience. The position offers a hybrid or remote schedule with competitive compensation including quarterly and year-end bonuses. Join a 250-strong national defense litigation team representing Fortune 500 clients across 50 states.
Required Qualifications
- Actively licensed and in good standing with the State of New York
- 3 - 6 years experience in defense litigation
- Substantial deposition experience
- Ability to thrive in a high-paced environment, requiring exceptional organizational skills, juggling priorities, and adhering to strict deadlines
- Client-focused mentality
- Must be a self-starter who can handle multiple projects with competing priorities and understand the importance of deadlines
- Ability to work flexibly and independently within a strong team
- Experience drafting critical motions and written discovery
- Experience taking and defending depositions
- Experience participating in pretrial motions and discovery disputes
- Experience preparing cases for trial, including developing case-specific defense strategies
- Experience attending depositions, hearings, and/or mediations
- Experience analyzing discovery, medical records, expert defense strategy, and motion practice
- Experience researching legal issues and investigating people, businesses, and worksites
- Experience drafting of briefs, memos, and client updates
- Toxic tort experience
