Job Summary
Associate Attorney in trusts and estates/tax practicing with a minimum of one year of experience, based in Washington, DC, requiring 3 days per week in-office. You will work on sophisticated trusts and estates matters, including drafting core estate planning documents for taxable estates, irrevocable trusts (GRATs, SLATs, ILITs), executing complex gifting and sale transactions, QSBS, pre-liquidity event and pre-IPO tax planning, and establishing private trust companies. You will have immediate client contact, opportunities to lead client relationships early in your career, and mentorship with exposure to ultra-high-net-worth families. JD is required; LL.M. in Taxation preferred; DC Bar admission highly preferred (or eligibility to apply). Compensation ranges from $180,000 to $300,000 based on experience.
Required Qualifications
- J.D. required
- LL.M. in Taxation preferred
- Admission to the D.C. Bar highly preferred, or admission to at least one state bar with eligibility to apply for D.C. Bar admission
- Minimum of one year of experience in trusts and estates or tax practice at a law firm or accounting firm
- Experience with drafting estate planning documents, irrevocable trusts (GRATs, SLATs, ILITs), gifting and sale transactions
- QSBS, pre-liquidity event and pre-IPO tax planning
- Experience establishing and administering private trust companies
- Strong client communication and business development skills
- Ability to quarterback client relationships at an early stage
