Job Summary
Assoc Patient Service Spec, Orthopedics at Franklin Clinic focuses on front-desk patient flow and administrative support: checking patients in/out, managing the reception area, scheduling appointments, processing insurance verification and payor verification, collecting payments, and ensuring accurate registration and HIPAA/compliance forms. The role requires strong customer service, ability to de-escalate and resolve issues, proficiency with medical terminology and hospital IT systems (e.g., EPIC), and attention to billing and eligibility details while supporting a smooth patient experience. Shift is 8:00am–4:30pm, Monday–Friday, with no nights or weekends, in an outpatient orthopedic clinic setting within Vanderbilt Health/Vanderbilt Ortho Franklin. Required Qualifications
- High School Diploma or GED
- Excellent customer service
- Ability to verify and load insurance coverage
- HIPAA compliance understanding
- Familiarity with EPIC or similar healthcare IT systems
- Knowledge of medical terminology and patient documentation
- Ability to handle payments and balance at time of service
- Ability to communicate effectively with patients, including minors and incapacitated adults
