Job Summary
Assoc Director, Strategic Sourcing & Supplier Management, Sterile Drug Product and Biologics leads strategic relationships with CDMOs supplying sterile drug products, biologics, and antibody-drug conjugates to Gilead. Based in Foster City, CA with GFlex remote up to 2 days/week, the role oversees strategy, selection, risk, and performance management of CDMOs, indirect leadership of teams, bid/selection of suppliers, negotiation of agreements, management of RFPs/RFQs/RIs, and collaboration with cross-functional partners to meet pipeline needs. Responsibilities include long-range supply/capacity planning, supplier performance management, BRMs, supplier risk management, budget development and accruals, and coordinating internal and external meetings and governance with global CMOs. Requires extensive experience in pharmaceutical/biotech sourcing, GMP knowledge, ability to manage multiple programs, and strong communication and leadership skills.
Required Qualifications
- 10+ years with BS/BA OR 8+ years with MS/MA or MBA
- experience in pharmaceutical/biotech or relevant manufacturing environment
- prior experience leading outsourced development/manufacturing service providers and/or direct material suppliers
- understanding of CMC development of biopharmaceuticals
- knowledge of GMPs and 21CFR parts 11, 210, 211, 820
- ability to lead cross-functional teams and manage multiple programs/projects
- strong negotiation and verbal/written communication skills
- ability to develop concise presentations for senior management
- ability to work in a fast-paced environment and travel up to 20% (domestic/international)
- leadership and people-management experience
- budget development and accrual reporting
- experience coordinating RFPs/RFQs/RFIs and supplier assessments
- stakeholder collaboration (Manufacturing Operations, Technical Development, Quality Assurance, Analytical Operations)
- experience with Confidentiality Agreements and Master Services Agreements
- experience with budgets and financial reporting
- PDM/CMC support needs for external suppliers
