Job Summary
Coordinate and track informal reviews and formal assessments for the Person-Centered Planning process, then take action to coordinate needed equipment, software, and technology based on recommendations. Manage equipment fittings, follow-up appointments with nursing staff, and oversee purchases while maintaining updated technology inventories. Research emerging technology solutions to improve quality of life for individuals with physical, sensory, and intellectual disabilities, and collaborate with program management to integrate these solutions into various environments. Provide quarterly reports to the Program Director and ensure compliance with agency policies and accessibility laws.
Required Qualifications
- Technical knowledge of assistive and adaptive devices and software
- Excellent problem-solving and critical thinking skills
- Effective communication and collaboration abilities to work with clients, families, and multidisciplinary teams
- Demonstrate sound time management and dependability
- Ability to perform multiple tasks at once and to work independently
- Ability to adapt to change and changing priorities
- Ability to convey a professional attitude that promotes leadership, teamwork, and promotes a healthy work environment
- Ability to lift up to 50lbs.
- Full drivers license
- Clean driving record with 2 years driving experience
- Knowledge and understanding of the Maryland Technology First initiative
- Knowledge and experience of DDA, MDTAP, and the PCP process
- Knowledge and compliance with the ADA and other accessibility related laws and regulations
- Experience and understanding of accessibility testing, and technology assessments
- Experience using common assistive technologies including screen readers, magnifiers, and voice recognition products
- High School diploma or equivalent
- Minimum of 2 years working with individuals with disabilities
- Must be available for Monday – Friday, 7:30am – 3:30pm
- Must be located in La Plata, MD
- Must comply with Agency Policies and Procedures
- Must support the Agency's Mission, Goals and Values
- Must ensure new employees are familiar with the Agency's Assistive Technology program
- Must maintain Accountability to the Community & Employment Program Director
- Must acquire and maintain all required certifications, as needed
- Must attend all meetings and training courses
- Must participate in agency functions and fundraisers
- Must perform duties and responsibilities as required within the scope of the position
Desired Qualifications
- Assistive Technology Professional (ATP) certification preferred
