Job Summary
Assistant Youth Librarian providing friendly, responsive service at the Youth circulation desk; assist children and caregivers with library resources and digital tools; plan and lead engaging youth programs (early literacy and summer reading); support outreach to schools and community organizations; promote library programs, assist with selecting/maintaining youth collections, and help create a welcoming, inclusive library environment; requires a Bachelor’s degree (or combination of education and experience) and at least two years of youth-focusedlibrary experience; role involves evenings and weekends.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree or a combination of education and experience
- At least two years of experience working with youth (library experience preferred)
- Experience working with children, families, or youth programs
- Library certification or degree, or willingness to pursue one (preferred)
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and work both independently and as part of a team
- Comfort using technology and learning new systems
